Dynamic Political Activist

A versatile political activist, with more than 20 years as a Democratic Party leader and “Super Delegate” in search of an administrative position in government, political consulting, fundraising and/or organized labor. Possesses extensive experience in all aspects of healthcare informatics, which has proven invaluable in setting up systems and support tools for political campaigns, administration, newsletters and database management.

Recognized as an active participant in Democratic Party politics from the local to national level. Expertise includes outstanding skills in training, customer/constituent support, systems implementation and campaign strategy.


Democratic Party, National Level                                                                                                  1988-Present

Member, Democratic National Committee (DNC)

Elected to serve as a DNC member by the California Democratic Party Executive Board for seven consecutive terms. DNC is the steering committee for the national Democratic Party.

  • Attended each Democratic National Convention since 1984.

  • Serve as an unpledged party delegate (referred to as super delegate in the media) to each Democratic National Convention since 1992.

  • As the founding editor of the California DNC Press Democrat, published a newsletter for the California Democratic Party, distributed it at state party meetings and posted it on the California DNC website. Published 80 editions since 1989.

  • Actively worked as convener on Vice President Al Gore’s 2000 nominating caucus, in what was then the 24th Congressional District. This caucus helped select five delegates to the Democratic National Convention.

  • Participated as a member of the Western States Caucus, DNC, from 1988 to the present. Raised money and recruited volunteers when California hosted the annual caucus meetings in 2007 and 2011.

  • Serve as a member of the DNC Women’s Caucus, from 1989 to present. Represented the Western states on the Women’s Caucus Executive Committee from 1993 to 1997.

Democratic Party, State Level                                                                                                       1985-Present

Member, California Democratic Party (CDP)

Elected at the state level, serving as:

  • Member of the State Central Committee from 1985 to the present. In 1987, became a member of the CDP’s Executive Board.

  • Assembly District Chair from 1986 to 1988, for what was then the 43rd Assembly District (AD).

  • Regional Director from 1988 to 1991. Coordinated five assembly districts, which covered 25% of Los Angeles County, and organized a regional pre-endorsing conference in 1990. This conference made endorsement recommendations to the CDP for the 1990 primary elections.

  • Member of the CDP Legislation Committee from 1985 to 1989.

  • Member of the CDP Resolutions Committee from 1993 to 2011. Co-Chaired this committee from 1993 to 1995.

  • Member of the CDP Organizational Development Committee from 2011 to present.

  • Vice Chair of the Irish American Caucus of the CDP, parliamentarian of the Native American Caucus, and member of the Women’s Caucus, the African American Caucus and the Chicano-Latino Caucus.

Democratic Party, County Level                                                                                                    1985-Present

Member, Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP)

Currently serve as an active participant since 1985. The LACDP is a body serving 2.5 million registered Democrats and is larger than most state Democratic parties. In 2003, appointed to the LACDP Policy Committee.

  • First served as an alternate for a DNC member in 1985.

  • Became an ex-officio member in 1986 as Chair of the 43rd Assembly District Committee of the CDP.

  • Was elected to the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee in 1986 on the June primary ballot. Subsequently, became an ex-officio member upon election to the Democratic National Committee in 1988.

  • Honored by the 43rd Assembly District Delegation as “Woman of the Year” in 1987 with the Franklin D. Roosevelt Award.

  • Acted as Chair of the Community Outreach Committee (formerly the Speakers’ Bureau) from 2003 to the present. The committee represents the Democratic Party at educational institutions, senior centers, clubs and organizations, speaking on topics such as party structure, candidates, ballot propositions and current events.

  • Participated as a member of the Finance Committee from 2007 to the present, which coordinates fundraising events and works with the Budget Committee to approve the multi-million dollar annual budget.

Democratic Party, Local Level                                                                                                       1972-Present

Began active participation as a college student helping with the McGovern presidential campaign. Joined the Democratic club movement in 1985, participating in voter registration, get-out-the-vote efforts, fundraising, and campaigns for numerous candidates and ballot initiatives.

  • Served as the President of Action Democrats of the San Fernando Valley since 2004. Unlike other Democratic clubs, Action Democrats meets quarterly and organizes around fundraising events. Raised more than $125,000 on behalf of the LACDP, the CDP, candidates and ballot initiatives.

  • Acted as a member of the Sherman Oaks Democratic Club (since renamed Kennedy Democrats) from 1985 to 2000.

  • Participated as a member of the Stonewall Democratic Club from 1992 to the present.

  • Acted as a member of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley Executive Board from 1985 to 1995.

  • Honored by the Beverly Hills Democratic Club in 1993 and the 29th Congressional District Democratic Club in 2001 for Democratic Party leadership.
