Managed a $2.5 million operating budget, capital equipment recommendation and appropriation as approved, staff scheduling, payroll, vendor services, departmental purchasing and compliance with state, local and other regulatory agencies. Served on internal task force teams for facility remodels, departmental relocations and equipment upgrades.

  • Worked with state and local officials, general contractor and sub-contractors on the completion of a new 128-bed, in-patient six-story hospital tower. Consulted with architects and mechanical engineers on facility remodel projects.
  • Served on the management team directly responsible for preparation and participation in the successful completion of the 2005 Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations survey.
  • Reorganized departmental records and compliance information records, improving access to documents.

Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, Sun Valley, California 2000

Director of Facilities Management

Managed scheduling, payroll, departmental purchasing and vendor services. Maintained records and compliance of building and safety operations within federal, state and local agency regulatory codes.

  • Formatted and categorized departmental and compliance records in manuals. Reorganized filing system.
  • Oversaw major repairs to building equipment including emergency generators, chillers and fan units, necessary for life safety and environmental operations.
  • Assumed responsibility for the completion of new emergency generator installation, which had been stalled for eight months, and the rebuilding of two generators, saving $14,000. Secured approval from the state fire marshall.

Kaiser Permanente, West Los Angeles, California 1992-1999

Chief Engineer

Directed facilities and maintenance of a 306-bed, acute-care medical center with 798,000 square feet on a 15-acre campus and five clinic buildings. Supervised 20 staff with responsibility for building operations. Partnered with construction services, architects, consultants, vendors and internal task teams on major facility remodels and equipment upgrades. Maintained records and compliance to building and safety operations within federal, state, local and other regulatory agency codes. Assisted with a $5 million annual operating budget and capital equipment appropriation.

  • Developed a government mandated environmental management program (CFC) and related policy and procedure manual.
  • Performed annual air quality management district (AQMD) audits. Calculated and reported refrigerant usage, combustion emissions, and toxic chemical usage and emissions, keeping annual fees consistently under $100.
  • Developed underground fuel storage tank program to monitor tank integrity, including emergency response procedures.
  • Contributed to cost control by partnering with peers in the research and development of supplier and vendor services contract requirements.
  • Received 1997 Managerial Excellence Award.

Sheraton Universal Hotel, Universal City, California 1990-1992

Assistant Chief Engineer

Oversaw physical operations and maintenance of a 400-room hotel and grounds. Supervised 14 staff. Coordinated engineering services for guest functions such as filming, trade shows and ceremonial functions. Oversaw compliance with state and local regulatory agency codes.
