Integrated custom-developed subscriber billing and accounts receivable systems for a startup mobile telecomm company that was subsequently acquired by Virgin Mobile USA in 2008.

  • Integrated Helio’s Enterprise Resource Planning system with the Virgin Mobile financial system.

  • Developed control processes and procedures that ensured recorded transactions were reconciled to source systems.

  • Designed and developed a financial reporting package and statistical analysis reports.

  • The working environment included Oracle EBS (version 11.5.10.2), financials, human resources, supply chain and a BPEL Integration Server.

LTS Associates, Principal, Manhattan Beach, California                                                                      2003-2006

Clients:

  • Prudential Real Estate and Relocation Services: Developed a financial reporting strategy for an 11.5.9 implementation using a combination of online inquiry, Discoverer and Report Writer (FSG) reports. Reviewed implementation setups, and recommended/implemented security and validation setups.

  • Overture Services, Inc.: Provided project management for the Yahoo! systems integration project to combine the business systems of Yahoo! and Overture, consolidating operations of $2.1 billion as well as serving more than 15 domestic and international markets. Specific tasks included day-to-day project management, requirements definition, resource planning and staff supervision.

  • Image Entertainment: Performed functional consulting support for a DVD distributor and implemented an Oracle Applications (version 11.5.8) system. Provided design specifications for the revised Chart of Accounts and conversion mapping to facilitate the conversion of legacy data and development of new financial reports.

A premier Southern California IT systems integrator and solutions provider. The Oracle practice specializes in the implementation and customization of the Oracle Applications suite of products as well as custom Oracle development projects.

Project Manager, Oracle Practice

Led a team of functional and technical consultants analyzing, designing, configuring, integrating and implementing Oracle solutions for clients. Provided overall project leadership through the use of structured project implementation methodologies. Served as the primary liaison between each client and Vertex to ensure that project schedules and goals were achieved.

  • Implemented an Oracle Applications HRMS module (version 11.5.6) for a leading pay-for-performance web search engine company.

    Projects:

  • Led the implementation of Oracle Applications (version 11.5.8) on an HP UNIX platform for the U.S. division of a Japanese multi-national distributor of automotive and electronic parts. Modules included GL, AP, FA, AR, OM, CM, PO, INV, MRP, WIP, BOM and EDI.

  • Headed a custom Oracle development project to convert a legacy Foxpro-based order entry and purchasing system for an electrical contracting firm.

  • Led the implementation of Oracle Applications (version 11.5.3) for a leading aggregator of content for DVD with nearly 1,400 exclusive DVD titles in release. Modules include GL, AP, CM, FA, PO, INV and GCS as well as a custom-solution that interfaces the legacy order entry and distribution systems.

  • Developed an Oracle data mart for a school district that enables administrators and teachers to analyze state-administered test results.

EMAP-USA, Inc., Division of EMAP PLC, Los Angeles, California                                                       1983-2000
Originally Petersen Publishing Company, purchased by Petersen Companies LLC in 1996, subsequently purchased by EMAP-USA in 1999.

Director, Financial Systems

Directed business applications systems for the U.S. division of a U.K.-listed multimedia marketing solutions and brand development company that publishes more than 100 popular consumer- and automotive-oriented magazines, and produces special events and Internet websites with product licensing worldwide. The division’s revenues exceeded $400 million. Managed a staff of ten IT managers and professionals, including DBAs and system analysts with an annual department budget in excess of $2 million.

Oracle Experience:

  • Directed and coordinated the management of all Oracle database services company-wide, ensuring availability and security. Managed a team of DBAs and determined policies and procedures.

  • Coordinated the conversion of a custom-developed, Oracle-based, advertising, sales, order entry and receivables system that improved functionality while resolving Y2K issues. The system processed 7,000 invoices a month.

  • Selected the conversion vendor, negotiated terms, established project milestones and monitored the progress to its successful completion.

  • Led three major Oracle Applications upgrades, resulting in business efficiencies through new functionality.

  • Proposed a number of Oracle Applications module enhancements that were approved by the National Oracle Applications User Community and subsequently incorporated by the Oracle Corporation into its products.

Business Process Re-engineering:

  • Led an IT project in the corporate-wide IT systems review, which analyzed business requirements and determined a course of action for modifying, upgrading and/or replacing existing systems.

  • Implemented a company-wide workflow process change that shifted order entry responsibility from the Central Billing Department to the sales force, reducing sales adjustments by 50%.

  • Established a purchasing card system that reduced the number of vendor invoices by 25% and provided information on vendor performance for contract negotiations.

  • Instituted a positive pay bank processing system, preventing counterfeit checks from being processed for payment and improving cash flow analysis.

Information Technology Management:

  • Directed the management of a corporate data center that provided IT services, including accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, sales, production, event planning and reporting for U.S. and U.K. management.

  • Reviewed and negotiated yearly vendor support contracts, and served as the primary liaison between company and vendors.

  • Created five user committees whose charter was to study IT user concerns; the groups provided feedback on desired system and hardware enhancements.

  • Established an IT Training Department that developed formalized user training for applications.

  • Instituted a remote monitoring system for mission critical UNIX servers and applications that continually checked online status during off hours.

Manager, Financial Systems & Procedures

Headed the evaluation and selection project for the replacement of a mainframe financial system for a publishing company with sales of $200 million and 40 consumer-oriented magazines. Determined functional requirements, prepared request-for-proposals, evaluated vendor responses and recommended appropriate solutions.

Managed all accounting operations for an upscale eating establishment owned by Robert E. Petersen.
