Manage a multi-site human resources group that supports global operations for the world’s largest barcode and card printer manufacturer with $900 million in sales and 3,000 employees serving a diverse list of industries.

  • Participated in the decision, planning and execution of the company’s plan to outsource all U.S. printer manufacturing operations to mainland China. This included sourcing, tooling, vendor selection and logistics, which forecasted to save $20 million in the cost of goods and operating expenses.

  • Managed human resources activities in support of the company’s China outsourcing project, including the creation and implementation of:

    • A two-year workforce plan, involving 600 direct labor, 85 professional and 30 management staff, which facilitated the smooth transition from domestic to global supply chain operations.

    • A communications and media program that supported the company’s position to employees, vendors, customers, shareholders and public agencies, ensuring positive media and employee relations throughout the transition.

    • Severance and retention plans that maintained productivity, on-time delivery and product quality metrics during the transition.

    • A plan to obtain additional federal funding, resulting in the receipt of Trade Adjustment Act benefits valued at $7 million for outplaced employees.

  • Created a talent assessment process for 200 domestic, EMEA and APAC regional management staff, resulting in talent upgrades, role changes and a succession plan roadmap.
  • Introduced targeted executive coaching, teambuilding and management training programs that were instrumental in accelerating product development and resolving major business issues.
  • Developed a comprehensive communications and internal branding campaign that enhanced employee engagement, interdepartmental alignment and management credibility. This had an indirect effect on improving productivity, product quality and retention.

  • Redesigned the temporary staffing program, resulting in a $1 million rate reduction, lower turnover, higher candidate quality, reduced time-to-fill and improved production operations.

  • Led a project to consolidate two U.S. manufacturing sites that reduced annual operating costs by $3.6 million, standardized processes, and improved product quality and time-to-market.

  • Developed a paid-time-off program consolidating diverse plans, policies and processes at multiple sites, which was well-received by employees, while reducing costs and easing administration.
