Engineering Technician
Reported to the Software Engineering, Product and Program Managers for testing of printer driver software, printer firmware, development and testing software, mechanical and electrical development, and testing for Card Printer Services, which represented $450 million of Zebra‘s total revenues. Zebra Technologies is the largest specialty label printing company serving the automotive, pharmaceutical, postal, medical, financial, retail distribution, warehousing, defense, transportation and shipping industries with total sales of more than $900 million.

  • Assisted engineers in fabricating and assembling electronic sub-assemblies for prototype models from schematics, rough sketches and verbal instructions.

  • Performed troubleshooting and repair of electronic assemblies down to component level.

  • Executed software, firmware and network testing on ten models across all MS operating systems.

  • Collected and organized engineering test data, and provided oral and written feedback of results and observations to software engineering, product and program managers.

  • Worked with the company’s largest client, Wal*Mart, in developing and manufacturing custom printer drivers and firmware for all U.S.A. stores.

  • Participated in the training of other engineering technicians.

  • Performed a major update at 20 Sam’s Club locations in Washington, California and Texas, affecting 50 Zebra printing units.

Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems, Point Mugu Naval Air Station, California                                   2002-2003

Electronics Engineering Technician (Contract Assignment)

Constructed, maintained and tested various avionic components and control systems for a major subsidiary of the Raytheon Company devoted to designing and developing advanced, integrated systems for crucial missions. Clients included military and civil customers employing focused, forward-looking technology with emphasis on mission systems integration.

  • Performed system- and component-level troubleshooting and repair for the Boeing 777 liquid cooling system.

  • Created and maintained quality control history records and test data in conformance with MIL and FAA specifications.

  • Wired flight and instrumentation for avionic tests used in flight control systems.

  • Designed, developed and built a testing system that simulated various in-flight conditions while the Boeing 777 was on the ground.

SMTEK International, Moorpark, California                                                                                         2000-2002

Electronics Technician

Supervised three technicians in the Functional Testing Department testing, troubleshooting and repairing circuit board assemblies used in CNC machinery, medical devices, defibrillators, and defense and commercial avionics for an electronics manufacturer providing circuit board assemblies to original equipment manufacturers in instrumentation, medical, telecommunications, security, financial services, automation, aerospace and defense industries.

  • Performed system- and component-level testing, troubleshooting, and repair, using inter-circuit testing equipment and software as well as customer-provided test beds.

  • Prepared and submitted data records to department/production managers and engineers.

  • Performed product validation and component failure analyses on a large variety of consumer and defense products.

  • Installed, operated and maintained Mobile Electronic Network Switching Systems equipment for all garrison and field communications.

  • Performed system- and component-level troubleshooting, repair and failure analyses.

  • Recipient of the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, National Defense Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Soldier of the Quarter; and runner-up for Soldier of the Year for the 123rd Signal Battalion – Third Infantry Division.
