Operations Manager

Directed administrative and clinical operations for a medical group with 100 physicians and 400 staff serving the greater Los Angeles area with six locations. Managed the reconstructive surgery, general surgery, nephrology, executive medical services, and ears, nose and throat (ENT) multi-specialties affiliated with Cedars Sinai Health Systems. Reported to the Executive Director.

  • Managed a staff of 45, including 15 medical assistants and two registered nurses.

  • Restructured the Reconstructive Surgery Department to improve efficiency and morale.

  • Managed each department’s recruitment, training and staffing.

  • Performed billing services to HMOs, PPOs, POSs and cash pay clients with a staff of 25, processing more than 4,000 claims per week.

  • Ensured that all data was obtained, analyzed and reviewed from 30 centers and was accurate with timely payments.

  • Spearheaded a taskforce that worked with each center, completing missing account information and increasing collected accounts receivable by 75%.

  • Followed up and expedited reimbursement by all providers.

Managed all functions of the front and back office, medical records, and facilities for a medical group with 13 offices, contracting with 12 hospitals serving Los Angeles and Orange County patients.

  • Implemented an effective check-in/-out process that decreased patient complaints by more than 65% in a three-month period and increased patient satisfaction by 85%.

  • Managed and maintained provider schedules to ensure availability and easy access for patients.

  • Gathered required data for the implementation and system setup for all new scheduling locations throughout the United States as well as the maintenance and updating of all scheduler files.

  • Managed a call center made up of 40 patient service representatives processing 500 calls per day.

  • Monitored staff productivity in the regional office.

  • Provided the site manager with analytics concerning the call center’s performance.

  • Trained patient service representatives, insurance verifiers, follow-up staff, administrative and clerical support in insurance verification, completion of data gathering, follow-up with vendors, service performance, productivity, staff employment issues and ordering medical supplies, including radioactive materials.

Regional Clerical Supervisor, Utilization Management

Led 45 utilization management coordinators and clerical staff providing authorizations and referrals for a medical group with more than 200 physicians. Provided continual support/updates to staff and clinical personnel concerning contracts, provider updates, referral processes and implementation within the Utilization Management Department. Maintained and coordinated payroll/time-sheets, staffing coverage, productivity analyses, yearly evaluations and monthly reports for the Regional Director.

HealthCare Partners Medical Group, El Monte, California                                                                   1991-1996

Ambulatory Care Coordinator (1994-1996)

Managed the company’s prime programs, including ambulatory case management; options program and oncology case management for a medical group with 40 offices and 500 physicians.

  • Maintained daily contact with physicians, social workers and nurses, facilitating and assessing patient eligibility, use of community resources and social support. Prepared and organized worksheet reports for the medical director and all committees. Represented the group with community agencies.

Correspondence Coordinator, Medical Records Department (1993-1994)

Managed and generated correspondence for the entire facility. Supervised the processing and resolving of patient and staff complaints.
